Caravaggio’s The Entombment of Christ – Oil at 12 x 16 in. on 22 x 15 in. BFK Rives.

Caravaggio<\/a>\u2019s The Entombment of Christ<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>created in 1604, is the penultimate example of baroque<\/a> style. Using distinct techniques and allegorical compositions baroque is often known for evoking emotion with the use of stark contrast. It\u2019s not subtle.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a palette heavily mixed in black the paintings use the juxtaposition of light and dark which help exaggerate abundant detail. This is my favorite part of Caravaggio\u2019s composition. I cropped it, turned the palette on its head, and hoped I\u2019d maintain it\u2019s essential identity.\u00a0
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Entombment of Christ <\/em>is an iconic work. It’s beauty is beyond it’s religious implications. I have never seen it in person. So I use things like: https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/<\/a> to study and make a version of my own. Art history is fun.
